Isaiah 40:11

Context

40:11 Like a shepherd he tends his flock;

he gathers up the lambs with his arm;

he carries them close to his heart;¹

he leads the ewes along.

Isaiah 65:6

Context

65:6 Look, I have decreed:²

I will not keep silent, but will pay them back;

I will pay them back exactly what they deserve,³

[40:11] ¹tn Heb “in his bosom” (so KJV, NAB, NASB, NRSV), an expression which reflects closeness and protective care.

[65:6] ²tn Heb “Look, it is written before me.”

[65:6] ³tn Heb “I will pay back into their lap.”
