• [Isa 52:1] Triumphant Zion! Lift Thy Head

  Triumphant Zion! lift thy head From dust and darkness, and the dead! Though humbled long, awake at length, And gird thee with thy Savior’s strength, And gird thee with thy Savior’s strength. Put all thy beauteous garments on, And let thy excellence be known: Decked in the robes of righteousness, The world thy glories shall confess, The world thy glories shall confess.   Awake, Jerusalem, awake! No longer in thy sins lie down; The garment of salvation take, Thy beauty and thy strength put on. Shake off the dust that blinds thy sight, And hides the promise from thine eyes; Arise, and struggle into light, The great Deliverer calls: Arise! Shake off the bands of sad despair; Zion, assert thy liberty; Look up, thy broken heart prepare, And God shall set the captive free. Vessels of mercy, sons of grace, Be purged from every sinful stain, Be like your Lord, His Word embrace, Nor bear His hallowed Name in vain.

  Come, pure hearts, in sweetest measure, Sing of those who spread the treasure In the holy Gospels shrined; Blessèd tidings of salvation, Peace on earth their proclamation, Love from God to lost mankind. See the rivers four that gladden, With their streams, the better Eden Planted by our Lord most dear; Christ the Fountain, these the waters; Drink, O Zion’s sons and daughters, Drink, and find salvation here. Here our souls, by Jesus sated, More and more shall be translated Earth’s temptations far above; Freed from sin’s abhorred dominion, Soaring on an angel pinion, They shall reach the Source of love.   Arm of the Lord, awake, awake! Put on Thy strength, the nations shake, And let the world, adoring, see Triumphs of mercy wrought by Thee. Say to the heathen from Thy throne, “I am Jehovah, God alone”; Thy voice their idols shall confound, And cast their altars to the ground. No more let creature blood be spilt, Vain sacrifice for human guilt! But to each conscience be applied The blood that flowed from Jesus’ side. Let Zion’s time of favor come; O bring the tribes of Israel home; And let our wondering eyes behold Gentiles and Jews in Jesus’ fold. Almighty God, Thy grace proclaim In every clime of every name; Let adverse powers before Thee fall, And crown the Savior Lord of all.

• [Isa 51:9] Arm Of The Lord, Awake, Awake!

  Arm of the Lord, awake, awake! Thine own immortal strength put on! With terror clothed, hell’s kingdom shake, And cast Thy foes with fury down! As in the ancient days appear! The sacred annals speak Thy fame: Be now omnipotently near, To endless ages still the same. Thy arm, Lord, is not shortened now, It wants not now the power to save; Still present with Thy people, Thou Bear’st them through life’s disparted wave. By death and hell pursued in vain, To Thee the ransomed seed shall come, Shouting their heavenly Zion gain, And pass through death triumphant home. The pain of life shall there be o’er, The anguish and distracting care, There sighing grief shall weep no more, And sin shall never enter there. Where pure, essential joy is found, The Lord’s redeemed their heads shall raise, With everlasting gladness crowned, And filled with love, and lost in praise.

• [Isa 61:10] Awake, My Heart; Arise, My Tongue

  Awake, my heart; arise, my tongue, Prepare a tuneful voice; In God, the life of all my joys, Aloud will I rejoice. ’Tis He adorned my naked soul, And made salvation mine; Upon a poor polluted worm He makes His graces shine. And lest the shadow of a spot Should on my soul be found, He took the robe the Savior wrought, And cast it all around. How far the heav’nly robe exceeds What earthly princes wear! These ornaments, how bright they shine! How white the garments are! The Spirit wrought my faith, and love, And hope, and every grace; But Jesus spent His life to work The robe of righteousness. Strangely, my soul, art thou arrayed By the great Sacred Three! In sweetest harmony of praise Let all thy powers agree.
