Isaiah 60:3

Context

60:3 Nations come to your light,

kings to your bright light.

Isaiah 35:9

Context

35:9 No lions will be there,

no ferocious wild animals will be on it 1 

they will not be found there.

Those delivered from bondage will travel on it,

Isaiah 60:14

Context

60:14 The children of your oppressors will come bowing to you;

all who treated you with disrespect will bow down at your feet.

They will call you, ‘The City of the Lord,

Zion of the Holy One of Israel.’ 2 

Isaiah 2:3

Context

2:3 many peoples will come and say,

“Come, let us go up to the Lord’s mountain,

to the temple of the God of Jacob,

so 3  he can teach us his requirements, 4 

and 5  we can follow his standards.” 6 

For Zion will be the center for moral instruction; 7 

the Lord will issue edicts from Jerusalem. 8

[2:3]  1 tn The prefixed verb form with simple vav (ו) introduces a purpose/result clause after the preceding prefixed verb form (probably to be taken as a cohortative; see IBHS 650 §39.2.2a).

[2:3]  2 tn Heb “his ways.” In this context God’s “ways” are the standards of moral conduct he decrees that people should live by.

[2:3]  3 tn The cohortative with vav (ו) after the prefixed verb form indicates the ultimate purpose/goal of their action.
