8:12 “Do not say, ‘Conspiracy,’ every time these people say the word. 1 

Don’t be afraid of what scares them; don’t be terrified.

Context

25:6 The Lord who commands armies will hold a banquet for all the nations on this mountain. 2 

At this banquet there will be plenty of meat and aged wine –

tender meat and choicest wine. 3 

Isaiah 66:24

66:24 “They will go out and observe the corpses of those who rebelled against me, for the maggots that eat them will not die, 4  and the fire that consumes them will not die out. 5  All people will find the sight abhorrent.” 6

[8:12]  1 tn Heb “Do not say, ‘Conspiracy,’ with respect to all which these people say, ‘Conspiracy.’” The verb translated “do not say” is second masculine plural, indicating that this exhortation is directed to Isaiah and other followers of the Lord (see v. 16).

[25:6]  2 sn That is, Mount Zion (see 24:23); cf. TEV; NLT “In Jerusalem.”

[25:6]  3 tn Heb “And the Lord who commands armies [traditionally, the Lord of hosts] will make for all the nations on this mountain a banquet of meats, a banquet of wine dregs, meats filled with marrow, dregs that are filtered.”
