Judges 16:17
Context16:17 Finally he told her his secret. 1 He said to her, “My hair has never been cut, 2 for I have been dedicated to God 3 from the time I was conceived. 4 If my head 5 were shaved, my strength would leave me; I would become weak, and be just like all other men.”
Judges 20:10
Context20:10 We will take ten of every group of a hundred men from all the tribes of Israel (and a hundred of every group of a thousand, and a thousand of every group of ten thousand) to get supplies for the army. 6 When they arrive in Gibeah of Benjamin they will punish them for the atrocity which they committed in Israel.” 7

[16:17] 1 tn Heb “all his heart.”
[16:17] 2 tn Heb “a razor has not come upon my head.”
[16:17] 3 tn Or “set apart to God.” Traditionally the Hebrew term נָזִיר (nazir) has been translated “Nazirite.” The word is derived from the verb נָזַר (nazar, “to dedicate; to consecrate; to set apart”).
[16:17] 4 tn Heb “from the womb of my mother.”
[16:17] 5 tn Heb “I.” The referent has been made more specific in the translation (“my head”).
[20:10] 7 tn Heb “to do at their arrival in Geba of Benjamin according to all the disgraceful [thing] which he [collective = “Benjamin”] did in Israel.” Here “Geba” must be an error for “Gibeah.”
