19:15 They stopped there and decided to spend the night 1  in Gibeah. They came into the city and sat down in the town square, but no one invited them to spend the night. 2

18:7 So the five men journeyed on 4  and arrived in Laish. They noticed that the people there 5  were living securely, like the Sidonians do, 6  undisturbed and unsuspecting. No conqueror was troubling them in any way. 7  They lived far from the Sidonians and had no dealings with anyone. 8

18:28 No one came to the rescue because the city 9  was far from Sidon 10  and they had no dealings with anyone. 11  The city 12  was in a valley near Beth Rehob. The Danites 13  rebuilt the city and occupied it.

19:18 The Levite 14  said to him, “We are traveling from Bethlehem 15  in Judah to the remote region of the Ephraimite hill country. That’s where I’m from. I had business in Bethlehem in Judah, but now I’m heading home. 16  But no one has invited me into their home.

This reading is possibly to be preferred over the MT.

[18:28]  7 tn Heb “it.” The Hebrew pronoun is feminine singular here, referring to the “city” (a grammatically feminine singular noun) mentioned in v. 27.
