Judges 2:17

2:17 But they did not obey ¹  their leaders. Instead they prostituted themselves to other gods and worshiped ²  them. They quickly turned aside from the path ³  their ancestors ⁴  had walked. Their ancestors had obeyed the Lord’s commands, but they did not. ⁵ 

Judges 4:9

4:9 She said, “I will indeed go with you. But you will not gain fame ⁶  on the expedition you are undertaking, ⁷  for the Lord will turn Sisera over to a woman.” ⁸  Deborah got up and went with Barak to Kedesh.

Judges 19:9

19:9 When the man got ready to leave ⁹  with his concubine and his servant, ¹⁰  his father-in-law, the girl’s father, said to him, “Look! The day is almost over! ¹¹  Stay another night! Since the day is over, ¹²  stay another night here and have a good time. You can get up early tomorrow and start your trip home.” ¹³

[2:17]  ⁵ tn Heb “…walked, obeying the Lord’s commands. They did not do this.”

[4:9]  ⁶ tn Or “honor.”

[4:9]  ⁷ tn Heb “on [account of (?)] the way which you are walking.” Another option is to translate, “due to the way you are going about this.” In this case direct reference is made to Barak’s hesitancy as the reason for his loss of glory.

[4:9]  ⁸ tn Heb “for into the hands of a woman the Lord will sell Sisera.”

[19:9]  ¹¹ tn Heb “the man arose to go.”
