2:9 The people ¹  buried him in his allotted land ²  in Timnath Heres in the hill country of Ephraim, north of Mount Gaash.

Judges 9:6

9:6 All the leaders of Shechem and Beth Millo assembled and then went and made Abimelech king by the oak near the pillar ³  in Shechem.

Judges 21:13

21:13 The entire assembly sent messengers to the Benjaminites at the cliff of Rimmon and assured them they would not be harmed. ⁴ 

[2:9]  ¹ tn Heb “they”; the referent (the people) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

[2:9]  ² tn Heb “in the territory of his inheritance.”

[9:6]  ³ tc The translation assumes that the form in the Hebrew text (מֻצָּב, mutsav) is a corruption of an original מַצֵּבָה (matsevah, “pillar”). The reference is probably to a pagan object of worship (cf. LXX).

[21:13]  ⁵ tn Heb “And all the assembly sent and spoke to the sons of Benjamin who were at the cliff of Rimmon and they proclaimed to them peace.”
