Judges 8:11

8:11 Gideon went up the road of the nomads ¹  east of Nobah and Jogbehah and ambushed the surprised army. ² 

Judges 18:10

18:10 When you invade, ³  you will encounter ⁴  unsuspecting people. The land is wide! ⁵  God is handing it over to you – a place that lacks nothing on earth!” ⁶ 

[8:11]  ¹ tn Heb “the ones living in tents.”

[8:11]  ² tn Heb “and attacked the army, while the army was secure.” The Hebrew term בֶטַח (vetakh, “secure”) probably means the army was undefended (see R. G. Boling, Judges [AB], 156), not suspecting an attack at that time and place.

[18:10]  ³ tn Heb “When you enter.”

[18:10]  ⁴ tn Heb “you will come to.”

[18:10]  ⁵ tn Heb “broad of hands,” an idiom meaning “wide on both sides.”

[18:10]  ⁶ tn Heb “a place where there is no lack of anything that is in the earth.”
