9:57 God also repaid the men of Shechem for their evil deeds. The curse spoken by Jotham son of Jerub-Baal fell 5  on them.

[9:6]  1 tc The translation assumes that the form in the Hebrew text (מֻצָּב, mutsav) is a corruption of an original מַצֵּבָה (matsevah, “pillar”). The reference is probably to a pagan object of worship (cf. LXX).

[9:25]  2 tn Heb “set against him bandits.”

[9:25]  3 tn Heb “on the tops of.”

[9:25]  4 tn Heb “It was told to Abimelech.”
