Jeremiah 1:7

1:7 The Lord said to me, “Do not say, ‘I am too young.’ But go ¹  to whomever I send you and say whatever I tell you.

Jeremiah 1:17

1:17 “But you, Jeremiah, ²  get yourself ready! ³  Go and tell these people everything I instruct you to say. Do not be terrified of them, or I will give you good reason to be terrified of them. ⁴ 

Jeremiah 3:14

3:14 “Come back to me, my wayward sons,” says the Lord, “for I am your true master. ⁵  If you do, ⁶  I will take one of you from each town and two of you from each family group, and I will bring you back to Zion.

4:6 Raise a signal flag that tells people to go to Zion. ⁷ 

Run for safety! Do not delay!

For I am about to bring disaster out of the north.

Jeremiah 7:11

7:11 Do you think this temple I have claimed as my own ⁹  is to be a hideout for robbers? ¹⁰  You had better take note! ¹¹  I have seen for myself what you have done! says the Lord.

Jeremiah 26:3

26:3 Maybe they will pay attention and each of them will stop living the evil way they do. ¹²  If they do that, then I will forgo destroying them ¹³  as I had intended to do because of the wicked things they have been doing. ¹⁴ 

Jeremiah 26:5

26:5 You must pay attention to the exhortations of my servants the prophets. I have sent them to you over and over again. ¹⁵  But you have not paid any attention to them.

Jeremiah 34:13

34:13 “The Lord God of Israel has a message for you. ¹⁶  ‘I made a covenant with your ancestors ¹⁷  when I brought them out of Egypt where they had been slaves. ¹⁸  It stipulated, ¹⁹ 

Jeremiah 51:64

51:64 Then say, ‘In the same way Babylon will sink and never rise again because of the judgments ²⁰  I am ready to bring upon her; they will grow faint.’”

The prophecies of Jeremiah end here. ²¹ 

[1:7]  ¹ tn Or “For you must go and say.” The Hebrew particle כִּי (ki) is likely adversative here after a negative statement (cf. BDB 474 s.v. כִּי 3.e). The Lord is probably not giving a rationale for the denial of Jeremiah’s objection but redirecting his focus, i.e., “do not say…but go…and say.”

[1:17]  ² tn The name “Jeremiah” is not in the text. The use of the personal pronoun followed by the proper name is an attempt to reflect the correlative emphasis between Jeremiah’s responsibility noted here and the Lord’s promise noted in the next verse. The emphasis in the Hebrew text is marked by the presence of the subject pronouns at the beginning of each of the two verses.

[1:17]  ³ tn Heb “gird up your loins.” For the literal use of this idiom to refer to preparation for action see 2 Kgs 4:29; 9:1. For the idiomatic use to refer to spiritual and emotional preparation as here, see Job 38:3, 40:7, and 1 Pet 1:13 in the NT.

[1:17]  ⁴ tn Heb “I will make you terrified in front of them.” There is a play on words here involving two different forms of the same Hebrew verb and two different but related prepositional phrases, “from before/of,” a preposition introducing the object of a verb of fearing, and “before, in front of,” a preposition introducing a spatial location.

[3:14]  ³ tn Or “I am your true husband.”

[3:14]  ⁴ tn The words, “If you do” are not in the text but are implicit in the connection of the Hebrew verb with the preceding.

[4:6]  ⁴ tn Heb “Raise up a signal toward Zion.”
