Jeremiah 22:2

22:2 Say: ‘Listen, O king of Judah who follows in David’s succession. ¹  You, your officials, and your subjects who pass through the gates of this palace must listen to what the Lord says. ² 

Jeremiah 27:13

27:13 There is no reason why you and your people should die in war ³  or from starvation or disease! ⁴  That’s what the Lord says will happen to any nation ⁵  that will not be subject to the king of Babylon.

[22:2]  ¹ tn Heb “who sits on David’s throne.”

[22:2]  ² tn Heb “Hear the word of the Lord, O king of Judah who sits on the throne of David, you, and your officials and your people who pass through these gates.”

[27:13]  ³ tn Heb “with/by the sword.”

[27:13]  ⁴ tn Heb “Why should you and your people die…?” The rhetorical question expects the answer made explicit in the translation, “There is no reason!”

[27:13]  ⁵ tn Heb “…disease according to what the Lord spoke concerning the nation that…”
