Jeremiah 30:13

Context

30:13 There is no one to plead your cause.

There are no remedies for your wounds. 1 

There is no healing for you.

Jeremiah 22:16

Context

22:16 He upheld the cause of the poor and needy.

So things went well for Judah.’ 2 

The Lord says,

‘That is a good example of what it means to know me.’ 3

[30:13]  1 tc The translation of these first two lines follows the redivision of the lines suggested in NIV and NRSV rather than that of the Masoretes who read, “There is no one who pleads your cause with reference to [your] wound.”

[22:16]  2 tn The words “for Judah” are not in the text, but the absence of the preposition plus object as in the preceding verse suggests that this is a more general statement, i.e., “things went well for everyone.”

[22:16]  3 tn Heb “Is that not what it means to know me.” The question is rhetorical and expects a positive answer. It is translated in the light of the context.
