Jeremiah 7:27

7:27 Then the Lord said to me, ¹  “When you tell them all this, they will not listen to you. When you call out to them, they will not respond to you.

Jeremiah 11:11

11:11 So I, the Lord, say this: ²  ‘I will soon bring disaster on them which they will not be able to escape! When they cry out to me for help, I will not listen to them.

[7:27]  ¹ tn The words, “Then the Lord said to me” are not in the text but are implicit in the shift from the second and third person plural pronouns in vv. 21-26 and the second singular in this verse. The words are supplied in the translation for clarity.

[11:11]  ² tn Heb “Therefore, thus, says the Lord.” The person has been shifted in the translation in accordance with the difference between Hebrew and English style.
