[26:6]  1 tn Heb “Sheol.”

[26:6]  2 tn Heb “before him.”

[26:6]  3 tn The line has “and there is no covering for destruction.” “Destruction” here is another name for Sheol: אֲבַדּוֹן (’avaddon, “Abaddon”).

[28:22]  4 tn Heb “Abaddon.”

[28:22]  5 tn Heb “heard a report of it,” which means a report of its location, thus “where it can be found.”

[31:12]  7 tn Heb “to Abaddon.”

[31:12]  8 tn The verb means “to root out,” but this does not fit the parallelism with fire. Wright changed two letters and the vowels in the verb to get the root צָרַף (tsaraf, “to burn”). The NRSV has “burn to the root.”
