John 10:8

10:8 All who came before me were ¹  thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. ²

13:19 I am telling you this now, ³  before it happens, so that when it happens you may believe ⁴  that I am he. ⁵ 

[10:8]  ¹ tn Grk “are” (present tense).

[10:8]  ² tn Or “the sheep did not hear them.”

[13:19]  ³ tn Or (perhaps) “I am certainly telling you this.” According to BDF §12.3 ἀπ᾿ ἄρτι (ap’ arti) should be read as ἀπαρτί (aparti), meaning “exactly, certainly.”

[13:19]  ⁴ tn Grk “so that you may believe.”

[13:19]  ⁵ tn Grk “that I am.” R. E. Brown (John [AB], 2:555) argues for a nonpredicated ἐγώ εἰμι (egw eimi) here, but this is far from certain.
