13:36 Simon Peter said to him, “Lord, where are you going?” Jesus replied, 2 “Where I am going, you cannot follow me now, but you will follow later.” 13:37 Peter said to him, “Lord, why can’t I follow you now? I will lay down my life for you!” 3 13:38 Jesus answered, “Will you lay down your life for me? 4 I tell you the solemn truth, 5 the rooster will not crow until you have denied me three times!


[13:35] 1 tn Grk “All people,” although many modern translations have rendered πάντες (pantes) as “all men” (ASV, RSV, NASB, NIV). While the gender of the pronoun is masculine, it is collective and includes people of both genders.
