John 17:4

17:4 I glorified you on earth by completing ¹  the work you gave me to do. ² 

John 21:9

21:9 When they got out on the beach, ³  they saw a charcoal fire ready ⁴  with a fish placed on it, and bread.

[17:4]  ¹ tn Or “by finishing” or “by accomplishing.” Jesus now states that he has glorified the Father on earth by finishing (τελειώσας [teleiwsas] is best understood as an adverbial participle of means) the work which the Father had given him to do.

[17:4]  ² tn Grk “the work that you gave to me so that I may do it.”

[21:9]  ³ tn The words “on the beach” are not in the Greek text but are implied.

[21:9]  ⁴ tn Grk “placed,” “laid.”
