[4:40]  1 tn Following the arrival of the Samaritans, the imperfect verb has been translated as ingressive.

[4:40]  2 tn Because of the length of the Greek sentence and the sequencing with the following verse, the conjunction καί (kai) has not been translated here. Instead a new English sentence is begun.

[6:9]  3 tn Grk “but what are these”; the word “good” is not in the Greek text, but is implied.

[8:17]  5 sn An allusion to Deut 17:6.

[11:6]  7 tn Grk “that he”; the referent (Lazarus) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

[19:18]  9 tn Grk “where they.” This is a continuation of the previous verse in Greek, but contemporary English style tends toward shorter sentences. A literal translation would result in a lengthy and awkward English sentence.

[19:18]  10 sn See the note on Crucify in 19:6.

[19:18]  11 tn Grk “and with him two others.”
