Walking on Water

6:16 Now when evening came, his disciples went down to the lake, ¹

8:4 and said to Jesus, ²  “Teacher, this woman was caught in the very act of adultery.

12:14 Jesus found a young donkey ³  and sat on it, just as it is written,

[6:16]  ¹ tn Or “sea.” The Greek word indicates a rather large body of water, but the English word “sea” normally indicates very large bodies of water, so the word “lake” in English is a closer approximation.

[8:4]  ² tn Grk “to him”; the referent (Jesus) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

[12:14]  ³ sn The author does not repeat the detailed accounts of the finding of the donkey recorded in the synoptic gospels. He does, however, see the event as a fulfillment of scripture, which he indicates by quoting Zech 9:9.
