Joshua 1:5

1:5 No one will be able to resist you ¹  all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not abandon you or leave you alone.

Joshua 1:17

1:17 Just as we obeyed ²  Moses, so we will obey you. But ³  may the Lord your God be with you as he was with Moses!

Joshua 8:3

8:3 Joshua and the whole army marched against Ai. ⁴  Joshua selected thirty thousand brave warriors and sent them out at night.

Joshua 11:4-5

11:4 These kings came out with their armies; they were as numerous as the sand on the seashore and had a large number of horses and chariots. ⁵  11:5 All these kings gathered and joined forces ⁶  at the Waters of Merom to fight Israel.

Joshua 11:7

11:7 Joshua and his whole army caught them by surprise at the Waters of Merom and attacked them. ⁷ 

[1:5]  ¹ tn Heb “A man will not stand before you.” The second person pronouns in this verse are singular, indicating Joshua is the addressee.

[1:17]  ² tn Heb “listened to.”

[1:17]  ³ tn Or “Only.” Here and in v. 18 this word qualifies what precedes (see also v. 7).

[8:3]  ³ tn “And Joshua and all the people of war arose to go up [against] Ai.”

[11:4]  ⁴ tn Heb “They and all their camps with them came out, a people as numerous as the sand which is on the edge of the sea in multitude, and [with] horses and chariots very numerous.”

[11:5]  ⁵ tn Heb “and came and camped together.”

[11:7]  ⁶ tn Heb “Joshua and all the people of war with him came upon them at the Waters of Merom suddenly and fell upon them.”
