[1:6]  1 tn Heb “For you will cause these people to inherit the land that I swore to their fathers to give to them.” The pronoun “them” at the end of the verse refers to either the people or to the fathers.

[3:8]  2 tn Heb “the edge of the waters of the Jordan.” The word “River” is not in the Hebrew text, but has been supplied for clarity.

[3:8]  3 tn Heb “stand in the Jordan.” Here the repetition of the word “Jordan” would be redundant according to contemporary English style, so it was not included in the translation.

[6:18]  3 tn Heb “Only you keep [away] from what is set apart [to the Lord] so that you might not, as you are setting [it] apart, take some of what is set apart [to the Lord] and make the camp of Israel set apart [to destruction by the Lord] and bring trouble on it.”

[8:4]  4 tn Or “commanded, ordered.”

[9:7]  5 tn Heb “in our midst.”

[9:22]  6 sn Verses 22-27 appear to elaborate on v. 21b.

[9:22]  7 tn Heb “them.”

[9:22]  8 tn Or “deceive.”

[9:22]  9 tn Heb “live in our midst?”

[9:23]  7 tn Heb “Now you are cursed and a servant will not be cut off from you, woodcutters and water carriers for the house of my God.”

[10:19]  8 tn Heb “But [as for] you, don’t stand still, chase after your enemies and attack them from the rear.”

[10:19]  9 tn Or “enter into.”

[10:19]  10 tn Heb “has given them into your hand.” The verbal form is a perfect of certitude, emphasizing the certainty of the action.

[13:1]  9 tn Heb “was old, coming into the days.” This expression, referring to advancing in years, also occurs in the following clause.

[22:2]  10 tn Heb “You have kept all which Moses, the Lord’s servant, commanded you, and you have listened to my voice, to all which I commanded you.”

[23:3]  11 tn Heb “for the Lord your God, he [is] the one who fights for you.”
