Joshua 1:8

1:8 This law scroll must not leave your lips! ¹  You must memorize it ²  day and night so you can carefully obey ³  all that is written in it. Then you will prosper ⁴  and be successful. ⁵ 

Joshua 10:24

10:24 When they brought the kings out to Joshua, he ⁶  summoned all the men of Israel and said to the commanders of the troops who accompanied him, “Come here ⁷  and put your feet on the necks of these kings.” So they came up ⁸  and put their feet on their necks.

[1:8]  ⁴ tn Heb “you will make your way prosperous.”

[1:8]  ⁵ tn Heb “and be wise,” but the word can mean “be successful” by metonymy.

[10:24]  ⁶ tn Heb “Joshua.” The translation has replaced the proper name with the pronoun (“he”) because a repetition of the proper name here would be redundant according to English style.
