Joshua 1:9

1:9 I repeat, ¹  be strong and brave! Don’t be afraid and don’t panic, ²  for I, the Lord your God, am with you in all you do.” ³

1:17 Just as we obeyed ⁴  Moses, so we will obey you. But ⁵  may the Lord your God be with you as he was with Moses!

Joshua 9:9

9:9 They told him, “Your subjects ⁶  have come from a very distant land because of the reputation ⁷  of the Lord your God, for we have heard the news about all he did in Egypt ⁸ 

[1:9]  ¹ tn Heb “Have I not commanded you?” The rhetorical question emphasizes the importance of the following command by reminding the listener that it is being repeated.

[1:17]  ⁴ tn Heb “listened to.”

[1:17]  ⁵ tn Or “Only.” Here and in v. 18 this word qualifies what precedes (see also v. 7).

[9:9]  ⁷ tn Or “servants.”

[9:9]  ⁸ tn Heb “name.”

[9:9]  ⁹ tn Heb “the report about him, all that he did in Egypt.”
