10:14 There has not been a day like it before or since. The Lord obeyed ¹  a man, for the Lord fought for Israel!

10:42 Joshua captured in one campaign ²  all these kings and their lands, for the Lord God of Israel fought for Israel.

21:43 So the Lord gave Israel all the land he had solemnly promised to their ancestors, ³  and they conquered ⁴  it and lived in it.

Joshua Challenges Israel to be Faithful

23:1 A long time ⁵  passed after the Lord made Israel secure from all their enemies, ⁶  and Joshua was very old. ⁷

[10:42]  ² tn Heb “at one time.”

[21:43]  ³ tn Heb “which he had sworn to give to their fathers.”

[21:43]  ⁴ tn Or “possessed.”

[23:1]  ⁴ tn Heb “many days.”

[23:1]  ⁵ tn Heb “the Lord had given rest to Israel from their enemies all around.”

[23:1]  ⁶ tn Heb “was old, coming into the days.” This expression, referring to advancing in years, also occurs in the following verse.
