The Lord Speaks to Joshua

13:1 When Joshua was very old, ¹  the Lord told him, “You are very old, and a great deal of land remains to be conquered.

Joshua Challenges Israel to be Faithful

23:1 A long time ²  passed after the Lord made Israel secure from all their enemies, ³  and Joshua was very old. ⁴  23:2 So Joshua summoned all Israel, including the elders, rulers, judges, and leaders, and told them: “I am very old.

Joshua 20:6

20:6 He must remain ⁵  in that city until his case is decided by the assembly ⁶  and the high priest dies. ⁷  Then the one who committed manslaughter may return home to the city from which he escaped.” ⁸ 

[13:1]  ¹ tn Heb “was old, coming into the days.” This expression, referring to advancing in years, also occurs in the following clause.
