17:12 But the men ¹  of Manasseh were unable to conquer these cities; the Canaanites managed ²  to remain in those areas.

[17:12]  ¹ tn Heb “sons”; “men” has been used in the translation because the context involves the conquest of cities; therefore, warriors (hence males) would be in view here.

[17:12]  ² tn Or “were determined.”

[7:12]  ³ tn Heb “they turn [the] back before their enemies because they are set apart [to destruction by the Lord].”

[7:12]  ⁴ tn The second person pronoun is plural in Hebrew, indicating these words are addressed to the entire nation.

[7:12]  ⁵ tn Heb “what is set apart [to destruction by the Lord] from your midst.”
