Joshua 24:8

24:8 Then I brought you to the land of the Amorites who lived east of the Jordan. They fought with you, but I handed them over to you; you conquered ¹  their land and I destroyed them from before you.

Joshua 7:12

7:12 The Israelites are unable to stand before their enemies; they retreat because they have become subject to annihilation. ²  I will no longer be with you, ³  unless you destroy what has contaminated you. ⁴ 

Joshua 11:14

11:14 The Israelites plundered all the goods of these cities and the cattle, but they totally destroyed all the people ⁵  and allowed no one who breathed to live.

Joshua 11:20

11:20 for the Lord determined to make them obstinate so they would attack Israel. He wanted Israel to annihilate them without mercy, as he had instructed Moses. ⁶ 

Joshua 9:24

9:24 They said to Joshua, “It was carefully reported to your subjects ⁷  how the Lord your God commanded Moses his servant to assign you the whole land and to destroy all who live in the land from before you. Because of you we were terrified ⁸  we would lose our lives, so we did this thing.

Joshua 23:15

23:15 But in the same way every faithful promise the Lord your God made to you has been realized, ⁹  it is just as certain, if you disobey, that the Lord will bring on you every judgment ¹⁰  until he destroys you from this good land which the Lord your God gave you.

[7:12]  ³ tn The second person pronoun is plural in Hebrew, indicating these words are addressed to the entire nation.

[11:14]  ³ tn Heb “but all the people they struck down with the edge of the sword until they destroyed them.”

[11:20]  ⁴ tn Heb “for from the Lord it was to harden their heart[s] to meet for the battle with Israel, in order to annihilate them, so that they would receive no mercy, in order annihilate them, as the Lord commanded Moses.”

[23:15]  ⁶ tn Heb “and it will be as every good word which the Lord your God spoke to you has come to pass.”
