5:15 The commander of the Lord’s army answered Joshua, “Remove your sandals from your feet, because the place where you stand is holy.” Joshua did so.

Achan Sins and is Punished

7:1 But the Israelites disobeyed the command about the city’s riches. ¹  Achan son of Carmi, son of Zabdi, ²  son of Zerah, from the tribe of Judah, stole some of the riches. ³  The Lord was furious with the Israelites. ⁴ 

Joshua 10:27

10:27 At sunset Joshua ordered his men to take them down from the trees. ⁵  They threw them into the cave where they had hidden and piled large stones over the mouth of the cave. (They remain to this very day.) ⁶ 

Joshua 23:16

23:16 If you violate the covenantal laws of the Lord your God which he commanded you to keep, ⁷  and follow, worship, and bow down to other gods, ⁸  the Lord will be very angry with you and you will disappear ⁹  quickly from the good land which he gave to you.”
