Joshua 5:15

5:15 The commander of the Lord’s army answered Joshua, “Remove your sandals from your feet, because the place where you stand is holy.” Joshua did so.

Joshua 7:26

7:26 Then they erected over him a large pile of stones (it remains to this very day ¹ ) and the Lord’s anger subsided. So that place is called the Valley of Disaster to this very day.

Joshua 8:31

8:31 just as Moses the Lord’s servant had commanded the Israelites. As described in the law scroll of Moses, it was made with uncut stones untouched by an iron tool. ²  They offered burnt sacrifices on it and sacrificed tokens of peace. ³ 

Joshua 24:7

24:7 Your fathers ⁴  cried out for help to the Lord; he made the area between you and the Egyptians dark, ⁵  and then drowned them in the sea. ⁶  You witnessed with your very own eyes ⁷  what I did in Egypt. You lived in the wilderness for a long time. ⁸ 

[7:26]  ¹ tc Heb “to this day.” The phrase “to this day” is omitted in the LXX and may represent a later scribal addition.

[8:31]  ¹ tn Heb “as it is written in the scroll of the law of Moses, an altar of whole stones on which no one had wielded iron.” The expression “whole stones” refers to stones in their natural condition, i.e., not carved or shaped artificially with tools (“wielded iron”).
