Joshua 5:4

5:4 This is why Joshua had to circumcise them: All the men old enough to fight when they left Egypt died on the journey through the desert after they left Egypt. ¹ 

Joshua 6:3

6:3 Have all the warriors march around the city one time; ²  do this for six days.

Joshua 8:3

8:3 Joshua and the whole army marched against Ai. ³  Joshua selected thirty thousand brave warriors and sent them out at night.

Joshua 8:11

8:11 All the troops that were with him marched up and drew near the city. ⁴  They camped north of Ai on the other side of the valley. ⁵ 

Joshua 11:7

11:7 Joshua and his whole army caught them by surprise at the Waters of Merom and attacked them. ⁶ 

[5:4]  ¹ tn Heb “All the people who went out from Egypt, the males, all the men of war, died in the desert in the way when they went out from Egypt.”

[6:3]  ² tn Heb “and go around the city, all [you] men of war, encircling the city one time.” The Hebrew verb וְסַבֹּתֶם (vÿsabbotem, “and go around”) is plural, being addressed to the whole army.

[8:3]  ³ tn “And Joshua and all the people of war arose to go up [against] Ai.”

[8:11]  ⁴ tn Heb “All the people of war who were with him went up and approached and came opposite the city.”

[8:11]  ⁵ tn Heb “and the valley [was] between them and Ai.”

[11:7]  ⁵ tn Heb “Joshua and all the people of war with him came upon them at the Waters of Merom suddenly and fell upon them.”
