Joshua 7:14

7:14 In the morning you must approach in tribal order. ¹  The tribe the Lord selects ²  must approach by clans. The clan the Lord selects must approach by families. ³  The family the Lord selects must approach man by man. ⁴ 

Joshua 14:12

14:12 Now, assign me this hill country which the Lord promised me at that time! No doubt you heard at that time that the Anakites live there in large, fortified cities. ⁵  But, assuming the Lord is with me, I will conquer ⁶  them, as the Lord promised.”

Joshua 22:16

22:16 “The entire community of the Lord says, ‘Why have you disobeyed the God of Israel by turning back today from following the Lord? You built an altar for yourselves and have rebelled today against the Lord. ⁷ 

Joshua 22:22

22:22 “El, God, the Lord! ⁸  El, God, the Lord! He knows the truth! ⁹  Israel must also know! If we have rebelled or disobeyed the Lord, ¹⁰  don’t spare us ¹¹  today!

Joshua 22:25

22:25 The Lord made the Jordan a boundary between us and you Reubenites and Gadites. You have no right to worship the Lord.’ ¹²  In this way your descendants might cause our descendants to stop obeying ¹³  the Lord.

Joshua 22:29

22:29 Far be it from us to rebel against the Lord by turning back today from following after the Lord by building an altar for burnt offerings, sacrifices, and tokens of peace ¹⁴  aside from the altar of the Lord our God located in front of his dwelling place!” ¹⁵

[22:22]  ¹³ sn Israel’s God is here identified with three names: (1) אֵל (’el), “El” (or “God”); (2) אֱלֹהִים (’elohim), “Elohim” (or “God”), and (3) יְהוָה (yÿhvah), “Yahweh” (or “the Lord”). The name אֵל (’el, “El”) is often compounded with titles, for example, El Elyon, “God Most High.”

[22:22]  ¹⁴ tn Heb “he knows.”

[22:22]  ¹⁵ tn Heb “if in rebellion or if in unfaithfulness against the Lord.”

[22:22]  ¹⁶ tn Heb “do not save us.” The verb form is singular, being addressed to either collective Israel or the Lord himself. The LXX translates in the third person.

[22:25]  ¹⁷ tn Heb “You have no portion in the Lord.”

[22:25]  ¹⁸ tn Heb “fearing.”

[22:29]  ²¹ tn Or “peace offerings.”

[22:29]  ²² sn The Lord’s dwelling place here refers to the tabernacle.
