9:1 When the news reached all the kings on the west side of the Jordan ¹  – in the hill country, the lowlands, ²  and all along the Mediterranean coast ³  as far as ⁴  Lebanon (including the Hittites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites) –

24:7 Your fathers ⁵  cried out for help to the Lord; he made the area between you and the Egyptians dark, ⁶  and then drowned them in the sea. ⁷  You witnessed with your very own eyes ⁸  what I did in Egypt. You lived in the wilderness for a long time. ⁹

[9:1]  ³ tn Heb “all the coast of the Great Sea.” The “Great Sea” was the typical designation for the Mediterranean Sea.

[24:7]  ⁵ tn Heb “they”; the referent (the fathers) has been specified in the translation for clarity (see the previous verse).
