[26:15]  1 tn Heb “to not do.”

[1:20]  2 tn The participles in v. 20 have been variously interpreted. Some treat them imperativally or as attendant circumstance to the imperative in v. 21 (“maintain”): “build yourselves up…pray.” But they do not follow the normal contours of either the imperatival or attendant circumstance participles, rendering this unlikely. A better option is to treat them as the means by which the readers are to maintain themselves in the love of God. This both makes eminently good sense and fits the structural patterns of instrumental participles elsewhere.

[31:32]  3 tn The word “old” is not in the text but is implicit in the use of the word “new.” It is supplied in the translation for greater clarity.

[31:32]  4 tn Heb “fathers.”

[31:32]  5 tn Heb “when I took them by the hand and led them out.”

[31:32]  6 tn Or “I was their master.” See the study note on 3:14.

[31:32]  7 tn Heb “Oracle of the Lord.”
