2:7 If your offering is a grain offering made in a pan, ¹  it must be made of choice wheat flour deep fried in olive oil. ²

7:9 Every grain offering which is baked in the oven or ³  made in the pan ⁴  or on the griddle belongs to the priest who presented it.

[2:7]  ¹ tn Heb “a grain offering of a pan”; cf. KJV “fryingpan”; NAB “pot”; CEV “pan with a lid on it.”

[2:7]  ² sn Lev 7:9 makes it clear that one cooked “on” a griddle but “in” a pan. This suggests that the oil in the pan served for deep fat frying, hence the translation “deep fried in olive oil” (see, e.g., J. Milgrom, Leviticus [AB], 1:185); cf. also NAB.

[7:9]  ³ tn Heb “and” rather than “or” (cf. also the next “or”).
