Leviticus 25:16

25:16 The more years there are, ¹  the more you may make its purchase price, and the fewer years there are, ²  the less you must make its purchase price, because he is only selling to you a number of years of ³  produce.

Leviticus 26:22

26:22 I will send the wild animals ⁴  against you and they will bereave you of your children, ⁵  annihilate your cattle, and diminish your population ⁶  so that your roads will become deserted.

[25:16]  ² tn Heb “to the mouth of the few years.”

[25:16]  ³ tn Heb “a number of produce”; the words “years of” are implied. As an alternative this could be translated “a number of harvests” (cf. NRSV, NLT).

[26:22]  ⁴ tn Heb “the animal of the field.” This collective singular has been translated as a plural. The expression “animal of the field” refers to a wild (i.e., nondomesticated) animal.

[26:22]  ⁵ tn The words “of your children” are not in the Hebrew text, but are implied.

[26:22]  ⁶ tn Heb “and diminish you.”
