Context4:15 the elders of the congregation must lay their hands on the head of the bull before the Lord, and someone must slaughter 1 the bull before the Lord.

Context24:14 “Bring the one who cursed outside the camp, and all who heard him are to lay their hands on his head, and the whole congregation is to stone him to death. 2


[4:15] 1 tn Heb “and he shall slaughter.” The singular verb seems to refer to an individual who represents the whole congregation, perhaps one of the elders referred to at the beginning of the verse, or the officiating priest (cf. v. 21). The LXX and Syriac make the verb plural, referring to “the elders of the congregation.”
[24:14] 2 tn The words “to death” are supplied in the translation as a clarification; they are clearly implied from v. 16.
