6:28 Any clay vessel it is boiled in must be broken, and if it was boiled in a bronze vessel, then that vessel 1  must be rubbed out and rinsed in water.

2:13 Now, get up and cross the Wadi Zered.” 10  So we did so. 11  2:14 Now the length of time it took for us to go from Kadesh Barnea to the crossing of Wadi Zered was thirty-eight years, time for all the military men of that generation to die, just as the Lord had vowed to them. 2:15 Indeed, it was the very hand of the Lord that eliminated them from within 12  the camp until they were all gone.

Ezekiel 46:20-24

46:20 He said to me, “This is the place where the priests will boil the guilt offering and the sin offering, and where they will bake the grain offering, so that they do not bring them out to the outer court to transmit holiness to the people.”

46:21 Then he brought me out to the outer court and led me past the four corners of the court, and I noticed 14  that in every corner of the court there was a court. 46:22 In the four corners of the court were small 15  courts, 70 feet 16  in length and 52½ feet 17  in width; the four were all the same size. 46:23 There was a row of masonry around each of the four courts, and places for boiling offerings were made under the rows all around. 46:24 Then he said to me, “These are the houses for boiling, where the ministers of the temple boil the sacrifices of the people.”

[6:28]  1 tn Heb “it”; the words “that vessel” are supplied in the translation to clarify the referent.

[7:15]  2 tn In the verse “his” refers to the offerer.

[29:31]  3 tn Or “boil” (see Lev 8:31).

[29:31]  4 sn The “holy place” must be in the courtyard of the sanctuary. Lev 8:31 says it is to be cooked at the entrance of the tent of meeting. Here it says it will be eaten there as well. This, then, becomes a communion sacrifice, a peace offering which was a shared meal. Eating a communal meal in a holy place was meant to signify that the worshipers and the priests were at peace with God.

[12:6]  5 tn Heb “heave offerings of your hand.”

[12:7]  6 tn Heb “and your houses,” referring to entire households. The pronouns “you” and “your” are plural in the Hebrew text.

[12:7]  7 tn Heb “the Lord your God.” See note on “he” in 12:5.

[12:1]  8 tn Heb “fathers.”

[12:1]  9 tn Heb “you must be careful to obey in the land the Lord, the God of your fathers, has given you to possess all the days which you live in the land.” This adverbial statement modifies “to obey,” not “to possess,” so the order in the translation has been rearranged to make this clear.

[2:13]  10 sn Wadi Zered. Now known as Wadi el-H£esa, this valley marked the boundary between Moab to the north and Edom to the south.

[2:13]  11 tn Heb “we crossed the Wadi Zered.” This has been translated as “we did so” for stylistic reasons, to avoid redundancy.

[2:15]  12 tn Heb “from the middle of.” Although many recent English versions leave this expression untranslated, the point seems to be that these soldiers did not die in battle but “within the camp.”

[2:16]  13 tn Heb “and it was when they were eliminated, all the men of war, to die from the midst of the people.”

[46:21]  14 tn The word הִנֵּה (hinneh, traditionally “behold”) indicates becoming aware of something and has been translated here as a verb.

[46:22]  15 tc The meaning of the Hebrew term is unclear. The LXX and Syriac render “small.”

[46:22]  16 tn Heb “forty cubits” (i.e., 21 meters).
