[1:51]  1 tn Or “shown strength,” “performed powerful deeds.” The verbs here switch to aorist tense through 1:55. This is how God will act in general for his people as they look to his ultimate deliverance.

[1:51]  2 tn Grk “in the imaginations of their hearts.” The psalm rebukes the arrogance of the proud, who think that power is their sovereign right. Here διανοίᾳ (dianoia) can be understood as a dative of sphere or reference/respect.

[15:13]  3 tn Grk “And after.” Here καί (kai) has not been translated because of differences between Greek and English style.

[15:13]  4 tn Grk “after not many days.”

[15:13]  5 tn Or “wasted.” This verb is graphic; it means to scatter (L&N 57.151).

[15:13]  6 tn Or “estate” (the same word has been translated “estate” in v. 12).

[16:1]  5 tn Grk “He”; the referent (Jesus) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

[16:1]  6 tn These are not formal legal charges, but reports from friends, acquaintances, etc.; Grk “A certain man was rich who had a manager, and this one was reported to him as wasting his property.”

[16:1]  7 sn His manager was the steward in charge of managing the house. He could have been a slave trained for the role.

[16:1]  8 tn Or “squandering.” This verb is graphic; it means to scatter (L&N 57.151).
