Luke 14:22

14:22 Then ¹  the slave said, ‘Sir, what you instructed has been done, and there is still room.’ ²

17:9 He won’t thank the slave because he did what he was told, ³  will he? ⁴ 

[14:22]  ¹ tn Here καί (kai) has been translated as “then” to indicate the order of events within the parable.

[14:22]  ² sn And still there is room. This comment suggests the celebration was quite a big one, picturing the openness of God’s grace.

[17:9]  ³ tn Grk “did what was commanded.”

[17:9]  ⁴ tn The Greek construction anticipates a negative reply which is indicated in the translation by the ‘tag’ at the end, “will he?” Thanks are not required.
