Luke 2:21

2:21 At ¹  the end of eight days, when he was circumcised, he was named Jesus, the name given by the angel ²  before he was conceived in the womb.

Luke 14:10

14:10 But when you are invited, go and take the least important place, so that when your host ³  approaches he will say to you, ‘Friend, move up here to a better place.’ ⁴  Then you will be honored in the presence of all who share the meal with you.

[2:21]  ¹ tn Grk “And when eight days were completed.” Here καί (kai) has not been translated because of differences between Greek and English style.

[2:21]  ² sn Jesus’ parents obeyed the angel as Zechariah and Elizabeth had (1:57-66). These events are taking place very much under God’s direction.

[14:10]  ³ tn Grk “the one who invited you.”

[14:10]  ⁴ tn Grk “Go up higher.” This means to move to a more important place.
