[2:23]  ¹ tn Grk “every male that opens the womb” (an idiom for the firstborn male).

[2:23]  ² sn An allusion to Exod 13:2, 12, 15.

[10:26]  ³ tn Grk “How do you read?” The pronoun “it” is not in the Greek text, but is implied. Direct objects were frequently omitted in Greek when clear from the context.

[16:17]  ⁵ tn Or “one small part of a letter” (L&N 33.37).

[16:17]  ⁶ tn Grk “to fall”; that is, “to drop out of the text.” Jesus’ point may be that the law is going to reach its goal without fail, in that the era of the promised kingdom comes.
