Luke 2:47

2:47 And all who heard Jesus ¹  were astonished ²  at his understanding and his answers.

Luke 24:22

24:22 Furthermore, some women of our group amazed us. ³  They ⁴  were at the tomb early this morning,

[2:47]  ¹ tn Grk “him”; the referent (Jesus) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

[2:47]  ² sn There was wonder (all who heard…were astonished) that Jesus at such a young age could engage in such a discussion. The fact that this story is told of a preteen hints that Jesus was someone special.

[24:22]  ³ sn The account in 24:1-12 is repeated here, and it is clear that the other disciples were not convinced by the women, but could not explain the events either.

[24:22]  ⁴ tn In the Greek text this is a continuation of the previous sentence, but because of the length and complexity of the construction a new sentence was started here in the translation.
