I am not worthy, holy Lord,
That Thou shouldst come to me;
Speak but the word; one gracious word
Can set the sinner free. I am not worthy; cold and bare
The lodging of my soul;
How canst Thou deign to enter there?
Lord, speak, and make me whole. I am not worthy; yet, my God,
How can I say Thee nay;
Thee, who didst give Thy flesh and blood
My ransom price to pay? O come! in this sweet morning hour
Feed me with food divine;
And fill with all Thy love and power
This worthless heart of mine. |

Savior, and can it be
That Thou should’st dwell with me?
From Thy high and lofty throne,
Throne of everlasting bliss,
Will Thy majesty stoop down
To so mean a house as this? I am not worthy, Lord,
So foul, so self-abhorred,
Thee, my God, to entertain
In this poor polluted heart:
I am a frail sinful man!
All my nature cries, Depart! Yet come, Thou heav’nly Guest,
And purify my breast;
Come, Thou great and glorious King,
While before Thy cross I bow;
With Thyself salvation bring,
Cleanse the house by entering now. |
