[8:31] 1 tn One could also translate the imperfect tense here with a repetitive force like “begged him repeatedly.”
[8:31] 3 tn This word, ἄβυσσος (abusso"), is a term for the place where the dead await the judgment. It also could hold hostile spirits according to Jewish belief (Jub. 5:6-7; 1 En. 10:4-6; 18:11-16).
[19:32] 4 tn Grk “sent ahead and went and found.”
[19:32] 5 sn Exactly as he had told them. Nothing in Luke 19-23 catches Jesus by surprise. Often he directs the action.
[22:13] 7 tn Here δέ (de) has been translated as “so” to indicate the implied result of Jesus’ instructions.
[22:13] 8 tn The word “things” is not in the Greek text, but is implied. Direct objects were frequently omitted in Greek when clear from the context.
[22:13] 9 sn The author’s note that the disciples found things just as he had told them shows that Jesus’ word could be trusted.
