11:18 For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, ‘He has a demon!’ ¹

17:18 Then ²  Jesus rebuked ³  the demon and it came out of him, and the boy was healed from that moment.

[11:18]  ¹ sn John the Baptist was too separatist and ascetic for some, and so he was accused of not being directed by God, but by a demon.

[17:18]  ² tn Here καί (kai) has been translated as “Then.”

[17:18]  ³ tn Or “commanded” (often with the implication of a threat, L&N 33.331).
