Nehemiah 4:18

4:18 The builders to a man had their swords strapped to their sides while they were building. But the trumpeter 1  remained with me.

8:4 Ezra the scribe stood on a towering wooden platform 11  constructed for this purpose. Standing near him on his right were Mattithiah, Shema, Anaiah, Uriah, Hilkiah, and Masseiah. On his left were Pedaiah, Mishael, Malkijah, Hashum, Hashbaddanah, Zechariah, and Meshullam.

[3:17]  5 tc The translation reads וְעַל (vÿal, “and unto”) with several medieval Hebrew MSS and some MSS of LXX, rather than the MT reading עַל (’al, “unto”).

[3:21]  6 tn Heb “the house of Eliashib.” This has not been repeated in the translation for stylistic reasons.

[11:24]  7 tn Heb “to the hand of the king.”

[2:6]  8 tn Or “queen,” so most English versions (cf. HALOT 1415 s.v. שֵׁגַל); TEV “empress.”

[2:6]  9 tn Heb “It was good before the king and he sent me.”
