Tel Harsha <08521> [Tel-haresha.]

The first of these variations only exists in the translation; the original being uniformly [Tˆl Charshƒ <\\See definition 08521\\>,] {Tel-harsha:} the latter simply arises from the insertion of a [Vƒv,] {wav;} being written ['Addƒn <\\See definition 0135\\>,] {Addan,} in the parallel passage, and ['Add“wn <\\See definition 0114\\>,] {Addon,} here.

[Tel-harsa, Addan. seed. or, pedigree.]

Nehemiah 2:13

2:13

Gate ................ Gate ............. gates <08179> [the gate.]

Gate ............... Dung Gate ............. gates <08179 0830> [the dung port.]

This was the gate on the eastern side of the city, through which the filth was carried to the brook Kidron and valley of Hinnom.

walls <02346> [the walls.]

Nehemiah 7:3

7:3

gates <08179> [Let not the gates.]

This is, the gates were not to be opened till sun-rise, and to be shut at sun-set; which is still the custom in many cities of the East. If a traveller arrives after sun-set, he finds the gates shut, and on no consideration will they open them till morning.
