Nehemiah 10:34
Context10:34 “We – the priests, the Levites, and the people – have cast lots concerning the wood offerings, to bring them to the temple of our God according to our families 3 at the designated times year by year to burn on the altar of the LORD our God, as is written in the law.
Nehemiah 11:1
Context11:1 So the leaders of the people settled in Jerusalem, 4 while the rest of the people cast lots to bring one out of every ten to settle in Jerusalem, the holy city, while the other nine 5 remained in other cities.


[6:16] 1 tc The MT understands the root here to be יָרֵא (yare’, “to fear”) rather than רָאָה (ra’ah, “to see”).
[6:16] 2 tn Heb “they greatly fell [i.e., were cast down] in their own eyes.” Some scholars suggest emending the reading of the MT, וַיִּפְּלוּ (vayyipÿlu) to וַיִּפָּלֵא (vayyippale’, “it was very extraordinary in their eyes”).
[10:34] 3 tn Heb “the house of our fathers.”
