Context17:2 “Speak to the Israelites, and receive from them a staff from each tribe, 1 one from every tribal leader, 2 twelve staffs; you must write each man’s name on his staff.

Context17:6 So Moses spoke to the Israelites, and each of their leaders gave him a staff, one for each leader, 3 according to their tribes 4 – twelve staffs; the staff of Aaron was among their staffs.

[17:2] 2 tn Heb “from every leader of them according to their fathers’ house.”
[17:6] 3 tn Heb “a rod for one leader, a rod for one leader.”
[17:6] 4 tn Heb “the house of their fathers.”
[26:54] 5 tn Heb “to many you will multiply his inheritance.”

[26:54] 7 tn Heb “according to those that were numbered of him,” meaning, in accordance with the number of people in his clan.

[36:8] 9 tn The subject is “Israelites” and the verb is plural to agree with it, but the idea is collective as the word for “man” indicates: “so that the Israelites may possess – [each] man the inheritance of his fathers.”
